Liberia: revenge and reprisal, a pain suffered by victims of Liberia civil war
As the Thematic and Institutional hearings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission reaches its historical actualities, observers have realized that Liberia’s problem is the summary of revenge and reprisal dating back from the one party era. Liberia: Change in minds and attitudes: an integral part of societal development
The realization of “change in minds and attitudes” could better be consummated if all stakeholders, ranging from privileged officials of the Government to unprepared parents collectively engage in building up the future of our children and by extension, the protection of our dear country Liberia. The transformation and idealistic principles of refining the minds and attitudes of our children through large-skilled rehabilitation initiatives invoke euphoria among less fortunate children of being part of a progressive society for the change of good. The challenge for any well-meaning Liberian is to help change the minds and attitudes from the negative embodiment of criminality and anti-development among our children to pivotal moral values. Therefore, the responsibilities and challenges to succeed in realizing the values of our children are in reconciliation with comparative analysis of the roles youth played during the civil wars in Liberia. In order to achieve the overwhelming and cohesive realization of the bright future of our children, adversaries within the political arena of our country must understand that there must be diversity in policies and opinions, but the common ideological solution to these problems is the change in minds and attitudes.

Statement of Firestone Natural Rubber Company
Firestone has operated a large rubber farm in Liberia for over 80 years and is proud to be rebuilding that operation in partnership with the Liberian people after 14 years of civil war. However, some groups continue to spread falsehoods and inaccuracies about the company’s operations in Liberia and even seek to claim undue credit for the hard work done by Firestone since the signing of new investment agreements with the Government of Liberia in 2005 and 2008.The recently released document by the Save My Future Foundation (SAMFU) contains a host of inaccurate statements and unfounded allegations. This is disturbing since, in January 2008, Firestone provided SAMFU with a significant amount of information about its operations, at SAMFU’s request, that would have provided the basis for a much more balanced and accurate report. Unfortunately, it appears that SAMFU chose to ignore or disregard that information. Even more disturbing is the complete falsehood contained in the introduction to its report that Firestone Liberia did not respond to SAMFU’s request for information. That blatantly false statement should cause any reader to call into question the accuracy of the rest of the report, and the bias of the SAMFU leadership itself.

Respecting & Exploiting Diversity in Liberia
Successive Liberian government authorities from 1847 to 1980 regarded Liberian soccer players and musicians as wayward youths deserving nothing more than social and psychological evaluation and rehabilitation for their supposed lack of ambition in striving for a productive future. And, perhaps, some Liberians still consider Liberian soccer players, musicians, and other athletes and artists as the scorns of society, but the political and social tides for soccer players in Liberia have changed tremendously since 1980. In 2005, for example, George Weah, the once amateur soccer player from one of Liberia’s deserted shanty towns, transcended the social stigma once associated with Liberian soccer players to become the first soccer player in Liberian history to run for the coveted post of president of Liberia. George Weah won the first round of voting in a field of 22 presidential candidates during the 2005 Liberian General Elections before losing to current President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf in a controversial run-off election. And Dionysius Sebwe, another Liberian soccer player, has risen above the stigmatic wayward youth social status to become the deputy minister of defense for operations of Liberia in the Johnson-Sirleaf Administration.
