Family members of former Liberian President Charles Taylor have dismissed speculations of threat against Mr. Moses Blah as he prepares to testify in the war-crime court charges levied against Mr. Taylor.
The spokesperson of the Taylor’s family, Mr. Sando Johnson said contrary to speculations of threat against the life of Mr. Moses Blah, sympathizers and members of Taylor’s family have had absolutely no ill intention against Mr. Blah. He said it was left with the conscience of Mr. Moses Blah to clearly speak his minds without outside influence. Mr. Moses Blah is a confident of Charles Taylor who is currently being investigated for war crime and crime against humanity in The Hague. He was among the overseas-trained rebel soldiers who invaded Liberia in the early ‘90s.
Former Liberian President Charles Taylor appointed him to the position of Vice President of the Republic of Liberia after the death of Liberia’s Vice President Enoch Dogolea. He further succeeded former President Charles Taylor in 2003 after he (Taylor) was forcibly flown out of Liberia. His three months of Presidency has practically no impact on the political and economic recovery of Liberia.
In one of the public testimonies at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in Monrovia, a victim of the Civil war in Liberia declared Mr. Moses Blah as one of the fearful fighters in the Southeastern of Liberia where he served as an Inspector-general of the defunct National Patriotic Front of Liberia.
In his recent interaction with the Press, Mr. Moses Blah informed the public that he had been invited by the Special Court to submit testimony on the ongoing trail of former President Charles Taylor but the information Mr. Sando Johnson has rejected. According to Mr. Johnson, the United Nations backed Special Court investigating active players of the Sierra Leonean war does not force anyone to appear before it. “The court uses money to influence witnesses and anyone anxious for money usually submits to such”.
In a related development, the Association of the defense of Charles Taylor has welcomed the invitation accorded Mr. Moses Blah to testify before the Special court. The Association through its President John T. Richardson said Mr. Blah being one of the closed allied to Mr. Taylor will give the actuality surrounding the facts on the activities of former President Charles Taylor since in fact he spent sufficient time in his government.
