ArcelorMittal, world's largest steel company, with 310,000 employees in more than 60 countries including Liberia is progressively making headway in Grand Bassa and Nimba Counties; drastically reducing the high rate of unemployment in that part of the country.
During his weekend tour of the company’s facilities and a rail road which is currently under construction in the port City of Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, the Vice President of Liberia Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai expressed happiness in the ongoing operation of ArcelorMittal in the county.
The Superintendent of Grand Bassa County, Julia Duncan Cassell along with her county officials accompanied the Liberian Vice President on his tour of the company.
Executives of the company headed by Mr. S. Nelbender informed the Liberian Vice President that his company was doing everything possible to complete the reconstruction of the rail road which links Grand Bassa County to Nimba County; one of the areas to be covered by the company during its operation in Liberia.
The visit of Vice President Boakai to the site of the company has given rise to the hope of hundreds of job seekers in the county who have been given the possible assurance for jobs provision by the company.
Speaking to the GNN during the tour, the Superintendent of the County in a jolly mood, Madam Julia Duncan Cassell said she is overwhelmed of the high level of support given her by the management of ArcelorMittal.
She told Vice President Boakai the level of support being received from this multi-million dollars company, adding, “we are indeed proud of the high level of support being received from the management of ArcelorMittal; job opportunities are now available for our people in this county”, Madam beeping with smiles told Vice President Boakai.
