In Commemoration of the 161st Independence Day of the Republic of Liberia, the Management of Firestone Liberia on Friday, July 25, 2008, hosted a sumptuous party in honor of children of its employees at three locations within the concession area.
The Independence Festival for children which started at about mid-day was graced by the President and Managing Director of Firestone Liberia, Mr. Charles E. Stuart and other corporate heads, including Mrs. Aumuo Abdullah Keshen, Community Affairs Manager, among others.
The Management of Firestone Liberia also distributed T-shirts to members of the Independence Day Committee and other employees with the inscription “let the children play again” and face caps as well as track suits.
Similar activities took place on the campuses of the Divisions Eleven 11 and 29 schools respectively to commemorate the 161st Independence of the country which was hosted in Margibi County. The president and Managing Director also toured these sites and personally interacted with the children.
The Harbel Field House was under the supervision of Mrs. Monah P. Harris, while Mrs. Bendu V. Karmorh and Mrs. Wilhelmina Mensah supervised activities on the campuses of the Divisions 11 and 29 schools respectively. They were assisted by other ladies of Firestone Liberia who were members of the Independence Day Committee. At these locations, Mr. Stuart was seen serving food and playing with the kids who attended the Independence Day Party. The Management of Firestone Liberia says the festivities were its way of identifying with the children of its employees on the joyous occasion of Liberia’s Independence Day.
At the Harbel sports pitch, children played all sort of games, including bag jumping race and musical chairs competition. The Independence Day Party hosted by the company was dubbed as highly successful and heart warming by observers within the concession area.
